Blue Monday the worst and least productive day of the year? Not on our watch! The concept of Blue Monday was first coined in 2005. Someone figured that the combination of short days, cold weather, and two weeks into our new year’s resolutions (and not sticking to them as much we’d like to), may not have the greatest influence on our motivation levels.

1. Get some fresh air

Lockdown or not, even by simply opening a window you can enjoy the outdoors. Watch the wind blow through the trees outside or have your lunch in your garden or on your balcony. The crisp air will do you good.

2. Do something that makes you feel good

A random act of kindness is not only a great way to give your mood a little boost, but you’ll also cheer-up someone else in the process! Whether it’s a colleague needing help with a project, dropping someone a note with a motivational quote, or getting a gift for someone near and dear to you - just because.

Focusing on someone else’s needs will serve as a welcome distraction from Blue Monday.

3. Embrace the Blues

The best way to get through Blue Monday is to simply treat it like it is - another Monday! Truly embracing the day and going along with the emotions that come with it is the best tip we can give, whether that means staying home all day listening to music for you, or getting that one task out of the way that’s been haunting your to-do list for months.
